With 2010 just around the corner, the global target to significantly reduce biodiversity loss seems elusive. It's now time to think about a renewed global framework and ways to better measure progress. But let's not forget the current target says Ahmed Djoghlaf, Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity. The target is still on the table at the highest level; last year, the G8+5 countries promised to increase their efforts.
