Learning Opportunities - what are they?

Fifty Learning Opportunities are offered to you - without additional cost - as a fully registered delegate during the IUCN World Conservation Congress, Barcelona from 5 to 9 October 2008. Apply to participate now. Few places remain and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

From ecosystem data collection, analysis and use to the basics of working with business; from conflict resolution to online tools driving conservation action; from multilateral negotiation skills to techniques for accelerating change – we have the Learning Opportunity for you whatever stage you are at in your career.

These Learning Opportunities are interactive, skills-building workshops made possible by IUCN Members, partners, staff and friends. Emphasis is placed on practice. Presentations are kept to a minimum and active participation is maximized. Experiential small group work, feedback and reflection will assist you in transferring and applying what you learn to your professional role.

The duration of Learning Opportunities varies from four to eight hours. Places are strictly limited – with only 20 to 60 participants per workshop. Attendance is therefore limited to a maximum of one Learning Opportunity per delegate.

How to sign up (on-site)

The online participant application system is now closed. You can, however, sign-up on-site. Visit the exhibition stand of the IUCN Commission on Education and Communication (CEC) within the exhibition area of the Congress Centre (CCIB) more than 2 hours before the Learning Opportunity. Alternatively come direct to the 3rd floor of the neighbouring Hotel AC Barcelona 30 minutes before the session start. Please note remaining spaces will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

We look forward to learning with you in Barcelona!
