IUCN seeks candidates for Honorary Membership

Nominations are sought from IUCN members and Commission members for Honorary Membership of IUCN, an award created at the foundation of the Union on 5 October 1948 and recorded in IUCN’s first Statutes.

Honorary Membership of IUCN, which recognizes outstanding services to the conservation of nature and natural resources, is presented to two or three individuals at the World Conservation Congress who have made exceptional contributions to furthering the goals of the Union. Honorary members include distinguished former Presidents and Directors General, members of IUCN’s Council, members of Commissions and international figures who have contributed their valuable time and energy to implementing the mission of IUCN. Nominations may be submitted by 31 July 2008 to the IUCN Council Awards Panel, by email to awards@iucn.org and using the form provided.
