Some boats will start their journey from ports across the seas, while others will be locally chartered sailing boats representing projects from around the globe. Following the Sailing to Barcelona parade, boats have the option of mooring at the Barcelona Harbour or at the Port Forum next to the Congress facilities.
During this time, they will host public events, showcase their marine and coastal conservation work, while benefiting from unique opportunities for global networking and international visibility.
Sailing to Barcelona boats will reinforce the marine messages presented throughout Congress using powerful visual images and creative activities, whilst offering participants a welcomed breath of fresh sea breeze!
N.B. IUCN is taking measures to reduce Alien Invasive Species (AIS) during its Congress, including marine invasives through the Sailing to Barcelona event. Further information will be available shortly.
